Topic/Presenter: Optics / C. Stewart/M. Vincent Question/Comment: What does the image look like in 0.4 arcsec seeing after convolution with the system profile, i.e. image profile. Include tolerancing! Submitted by: Jon Holtzman NIC-FPS Response: Image quality, including tolerancing, has be set for two pixel sampling, or 0.54". For all wavelengths and fields, the RMS spot radii has been kept below the pixel half-width of 9 microns. See the spot radius diagram on the science page. Tolerancing analysis in progress. Seeing is expected to improve to 0.4" with improvements to ARC. For this, we have provided room within NIC-FPS to upgrade to a 2K x 2 K detector with ~0.15" pixels. This combination will increase the field of view, at the cost of slight (<10%) vignetting in the corners. Status: Closed.
